Baseball is a game where the player can pitch, hit, field, and run just like in a real baseball game. The player can choose between USA and Japan modes, two different teams, and among a line-up of unique players. In the 1-player game, the player is against the computer, and the in the 2-player game, their friend is their opponent.
Vice President of Brand Management for Nintendo, Gail Tilden, spent the holiday season of 1985 traveling to various New York and New Jersey malls, accompanied by New York Mets players like Mookie Wilson and Ron Darling, where she set up large screens and had the players compete against shoppers at Baseball. It was the best electronic rendition of baseball at the time and it helped Nintendo secure a lot of early adopters and secure a hold in the west.
