Similar to Grim Fandango: Remastered, Day of the Tentacle: Remastered is a remastered version of the classic point-and-click adventure game Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle from 1993. The content and gameplay are entirely identical to the original game. The largest difference is that the entire game was redrawn in high resolution art, for both the characters and the backgrounds. Just like in Grim Fandango: Remastered it is possible to switch between the original and the new art at any moment while playing.
Each version also has a different interface. The original version shows the possible verbs and the inventory at the bottom, and the description of items in the environment when hovering above them appear there as well. In the remastered version there is no bottom part and the environment takes up the entire screen. Descriptions of items in the environment appear directly next to the cursor. Right clicking on an item opens up a contextual graphical verb wheel where the most common verbs for the item are displayed. It is however still possible to scroll and select a less relevant verb and then click on an item to see the response.
The audio was reworked to make the voices clearer, the soundtrack was redone within MIDI adapted to work with the iMUSE system, and there is an option to listen to commentary from the original creators. Just like in the original game the full version of the first title Maniac Mansion can be unlocked and played in-game, but this game-in-a-game was not remastered.
