The PS4 game Godzilla is an updated version of the 2014 Japanese PS3 game Godzilla. When it was brought over to The West, the PS3 and PS4 version were released simultaneously, but with different content. This PS4 version has many differences and additional content identical to the Japanese PS4 version Godzilla VS released at the same time.
Entirely new for this version is the inclusion of an online multiplayer mode. For the existing Destruction mode it is possible to play as any Kaiju, not just Godzilla. The Diorama mode plays differently and the same applies to the Evolution mode which was overhauled. In the PS4 version the Evolution mode is used to unlock new monsters after having defeated them in the Destruction mode. In the PS3 version this was only possible for Godzilla 2014 and Burning Godzilla, while on the PS4 it can be done for all monsters. It is now also possible to upgrade their abilities there and those upgrades can be used in multiplayer games.
Next to making existing AI-controlled monsters playable, new playable monsters include Anguirus, Battra, Ghidorah, Mecha-King, Rodan and SpaceGodzilla.
