Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012

Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 is an enhanced sequel to the previous game. The core gameplay stays true to the Magic: The Gathering formula. The players take turns playing cards from their deck, which is made up of lands and spells, until one achieves victory. The lands generate mana, which is then used to cast the wide variety of spells. The mana has five different colors and spells may require mana of a specific color in order to be cast.

In order to make the game more accessible to new players, the interface has been redesigned and more tutorial support has been added, as well as a demonstration that starts the first time you start the game. There are now three campaigns, the second having the player battle stronger versions of the opponents defeated in the main campaign and the new Archenemy mode putting three players (human or AI) against extremely tough enemies. The puzzles have also been integrated into the main campaign, as side missions that can be unlocked by defeating the AI enemies. In addition, one-off matches are also available, both against the AI and against other players, in multiplayer.
