This compilation contains every Samurai Shodown game released on SNK’s Neo Geo hardware during the series’s life. Like Digital Eclipse’s other compilations, it includes emulated arcade versions of each game along with online multiplayer using rollback netcode. Many bonus features provide historical context on the series and its history, including development documentation, official artwork, and interviews with developers. The classic games included in this collection are:
- Samurai Shodown
- Samurai Shodown II
- Samurai Shodown III: Blades of Blood
- Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge
- Samurai Shodown V
- Samurai Shodown V Special
One other, previously-unreleased game is also included: Samurai Shodown V Perfect, an update to V Special that caps off the series’s legacy on the Neo Geo. It features the same characters and gameplay as V Special, with several bugfixes, and brand-new story modes for every character. This game was developed in 2005 and completed, but cancelled after a single brief location test. That finished version is made playable for the very first time alongside a brand-new English translation.
