The Dungeon Master

The Dungeon Master is an interactive fiction game with the aim of collecting a predetermined number of turquoise rings, with the difference that your character’s skills are generated beforehand and are levelled up during the game, in a manner typical of dungeon crawlers. Once your strength, intelligence, wisdom, agility, health and charisma have been generated, affecting your chances in various situations.

The dungeon is made up of corridors, three types of doors (some can be opened, others need their locks picking), assorted potions to affect your attributes (for better or worse), archways (some of which are harmful to stand in), stairways and secret passages. Traders and wizards offer items in exchange for gold – further items are located in rooms, or dropped by vanquished foes. Magic spells variously attack your enemies, affect your attributes, or teleport you elsewhere – some can backfire.

The facility to design your own dungeons and play through the game in them is also offered. Existing dungeons can be edited, with the results printed for perusal.
